Mosquito 'Cognito beats DEET hands down in laboratory tests
70% of mosquitoes avoid DEET:
In USDA forced-choice olfactometer tests, all mosquitoes picked up
the scent of a human hand and left the holding chamber. About 30% of
mosquitoes went to a chamber baited with a hand protected by Deet,
and the remaining 70% went to the chamber with an unprotected hand.
85% of mosquitoes avoid Conceal:
In trials with Conceal, 30% to 40% of mosquitoes could not pick up
any scent and never left the holding chamber. About 15% of mosquitoes
went to the chamber baited with a human hand protected by Conceal,
and the remaining 45% to 55% went to the chamber with an unprotected
human hand.
